Bayon is located within the walled royal city of Angkor Thom. Although Ankor Thom comprises only a small part of the immense Angkor complex, it alone is larger than any walled city of midieval Europe, and could have encompased the whole of ancient Rome. Ya, this place is BIG. |
|
Bayon is one of the more jaw-dropping temples. Huge carved faces look down upon you from all directions. Cool and creepy at the same time. |

Like the Apsaras, they were happy to see me. |

Yet another of the many Angkor complexes, Ta Prohm is still massive in its own right. According to inscriptions, upkeep required 79,365 people and relied upon the income of 3,140 villages. With that much labor at their disposal, how come the road from Thailand sucks? |
|
As Ta Prohm has seen little restoration, it has a very "Indianna Jones" feel to it. |

"Notice to potential home buyers: The large tree out front has invasive roots that may have compromised the structural integrity of the foundation." |
