Umphein Mei Refugee Camp

This refugee camp is home to 20,000 Karen.

The people live in bamboo huts scattered throughout the hills.

Hellen's family lives in this hut, which is where I stayed.

The first day we hiked over the hill to a water fall, where I picked up my first leech.

About 25% of Karen are Christian, while most of the rest are Buddhists.

I of course arrived to another party. Twenty-two couples were married in a big wedding celebration at this church while I was there.
